Brass Bath

Here is a much deeper cleaning for your brass instrument.

Deep Clean Brass Instrument

Cleaning your instrument

I have had many students ask me about cleaning their instruments. Each instrument is different and unique. Today, I am tackling brass instruments. Among the brass family the instruments we see most often in band are: trumpet, french horn, trombone, baritone, and tuba. Each beginning band book contains a DVD or an internet code to unlock Bruce Pearson's Traditions of Excellence online. This book will walk you step by step through cleaning your instrument. For now, I am including a link to a youtube video on how to bathe your trumpet. But, please remember NEVER BATHE A WOODWIND INSTRUMENT OR GET IT WET!

Give your trumpet a bath!

This is for you woodwinds

If you are interested in upgrading your personal woodwind instrument to an intermediate or professional I can't recommend these guys at Saxquest in St. Louis enough. They are having an instrument expo on November 19. Please, check out the information on the link below.

Welcome to Band

Hi, band it's Mrs. Melendez here. I just wanted to let you know a little about me. I live in Jefferson City with my husband Hector and my 3 children, Evie, Ella, and Isaiah. My husband Hector and I are both saxophone players. We met while serving in military bands together. I am a veteran and was an army bandsman. I have a bachelor's degree in Instrumental Music Education from the University of Central Missouri where I studied saxophone with Dr. James Gai. I have also studied with Dr. Randall Smith  at Truman State University and Dr. Kenneth Tse, University of Iowa (previously at University of Missouri). This is my second year serving as Interparish Band Director and my 4th year teaching. I also play in the Jefferson City Symphonic Community Band and teach private saxophone lessons.
