BEGINNING BAND

Beginning Band starts in 5th grade at St. Peter Interparish School. Students will be shown a short instrumental music demonstration. The instrument demonstration will take play on August 26 during the afternoon.

Mrs. Schulte's Class: 12:50-1:20

Mrs. Hasty's Class: 1:25-1:55

Mrs. Seibert's Class: 2:00-2:30

Students will watch a short demonstration and see what instruments look and sound like. Students will not touch or play an instruments at this time. My #1 priority is keeping students safe. I do not feel that sharing instruments or mouth pieces is necessary. So, instead I will demonstrate the instruments to the kids along with a representative from Palen Music Co.

Instruments available for 5th grade band

ALL STUDENTS NEED TO BRING A PENCIL TO THE INSTRUMENT DEMONSTRATION!

Pray for the people who are infected with COVID-19

Pray for people who are infected with COVID-19 or facing quarantine.

Jesus, during Your ministry on Earth You showed Your power and caring by healing people of all ages and stations of life from physical, mental, and spiritual ailments. Be present now to people who need Your loving touch because of COVID-19. May they feel Your power of healing through the care of doctors and nurses.
Take away the fear, anxiety, and feelings of isolation from people receiving treatment or under quarantine. Give them a sense of purpose in pursuing health and protecting others from exposure to the disease. Protect their families and friends and bring peace to all who love them.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.—Philippians 4:6 (NIV)

Pray for the new coronavirus to stop spreading.

Almighty God, we know that everything is in Your sovereign control. We ask that You keep this new coronavirus from continuing to spread. Give government officials the ability to safely handle people arriving from other countries. Help people decide to stay home instead of traveling or going out needlessly. Holy Spirit, remind people to wash their hands properly. And while it may be heartbreaking, comfort families as they decide to keep their distance from elderly or other high-risk family members.
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea …—Psalm 46:1-2 (NIV)

Musician's Prayer

Since we always start our band class with a prayer I wanted to share this Musician's Prayer with you. I would ask that you pray it before your practice. But, feel free to say it anytime. In our current state of circumstances we can always find solace in prayer.

MUSICIAN'S PRAYER
Lord, let me be an instrument in tune with your perfect will;
may I play your melody yet know when to be still.
May everyone who listens feel presence, Lord,
and recognize my love for You in every note and chord.

Porch Concert #MusicConnectsUs

Music connects us.
During times of celebration & times of solemnity.
During times of tradition & times of loss.
During times of peace & times of stress.
During times of love & times of fear.
During times of joy & times of sadness
During times of change & times of hope
At all times, music connects us.
Sharing our talent and emotions through music. With each other. Together. Music, by nature, lends itself to connection.
Music connects us.
I want to encourage each of you to give a concert on the porch. If possible, perform any song you love on your porch at 7:00pm every weekday OR ANY WEEKDAY to remind family & neighbors that music can still be shared. Music need not be feared. Music helps bring peace and healing.
There may be students all around the country, perhaps the world, who will be participating as well. What a way to connect us not only to music, but to each other. To fellow music students on the other side of the world. Feel free to invite any musician – parent, community band member, college student, retired directors – to participate as well.
Music connects us.
If you would like to share a portion of your performance, record it and submit it to me. I will also do a performance for YOU. If you like I will share it on our school’s social media (with your parents’ permission) #MusicConnectsUs

Charms Office

Each band student has their own unique charms office log in to use. Charms Office Log in
This allows me to communicate with parents and students. Also, it allows students to upload playing tests and practice logs. If you are unable to log into charms contact Mrs. Melendez immediately for your log in information. jmelendez@stpeterjc.org

March Mania

Each year “The President’s Own” hosts “Sousa’s March Mania,” a competition in which students and fans around the globe rally behind their favorite marches as they advance through a series of match-ups and onto the championship game! Each day two marches compete head-to-head, while votes for the favorite march determines which one advances to the next round. The 2020 edition of March Mania will be a dogfight like no other! Which marches will make it through the Sousa’s Sixteen, Enlisted Eight, and Fidelis Four to the final round? That’s for you to decide. March Mania
Please listen to the daily marches and vote on your favorite. Fill out a bracket and compete with other students around the globe. All grade levels are asked to listen to these marches on at least TUESDAY and THURSDAY to vote. Even better if you are listening and voting daily. Good luck.
